I go back if they ask for it. My snow and rain policy is that I don't climb the ladder with wet shoes, so I won't be going up to brush away snow. Besides, one little area brushed away gives you about 1/10th of a percent of all the things you need to look at on a roof. The risk/benefit isn't worth it to me. Maybe when the kids are grown and my wife isn't impressed with me anymore.

I agree. I used to climb some roofs that most would consider dangerous but have since changed my policy and only tend to climb it if I'm completely comfortable. If you get hurt, it hurts a lot more than just you. Your whole family suffers, not worth the risk

We do the same here in Louisville, KY Liz, but just for the roof. Snow covered ground, I don't feel is as important! We also do with utilities where the BA and client understood that that they were on.

What about other items that weren't initially visible? Like attics, knee wall access, electric panels and mechanicals? If you can't get access to them or permission to access them while onsite, do you charge to return?

Its not their fault and getting money from the selling parties isn't possible, so we help keep the process moving forward for all.

Sincerely,

We tell clients to call when snow comes off roof and we will come back out for free. But they rarely call to schedule.

We try to at least get to the edges, but that may not be possible. We will reinspect for free if it is on one of our inspectors path of travel. We have had winters where the snow is still up on the roof after closing!

Thankfully this is not a problem we have to deal with in Texas. On the very rare occasions it does snow, Texas just shuts down until it melts.

Anytime we can get back to a house to see the roof we certainly do. We want to give our clients their money's worth.
