High efficiency furnace intake next to water heater

I could not find in the instruction manual for an HE furnace for fresh air intake and distance to a water heater in a shared place. Does someone have a reference?

There's no code I know of that restricts distance from a condensing furnace air intake (installed in non-direct vent method) to a draft hood. If you have the make and model of the condensing furnace I would Internet search the installation instructions and see if there is any restriction in those. I don't remember seeing anything in the instructions I have read.
