YES you should get an inspection on a New Construction Home!

According to the National Association of Home Builders, more than 3,000 components are used in constructing a house. Roughly 20 different sub-contractors most likely install these 3,000 components and each sub-contractor may employ as many as 4 to 5 different employees to work on the house. Upon completion, your house could have seen more than 100 different people working with these 3,000 components, including sub-contractors for things such as roofing, framing, painting, drywall, electrical, flooring, appliances, insulation, etc. With so many people working on a home and with so many components to the actual construction, mistakes can be made. No home is perfect but it’s important to know which aspects of a home are worth repairing and which are deal-breakers. Living in a newly built home is exciting and typically, comes with far fewer issues that buying an older home. To ensure your long term happiness, safety and financial stability, hiring a home inspector to check out a new construction home will ensure you’re not investing in an asset that requires major repairs.

Agreed! An inspection can give important insights into the construction of the home, as well as a chance to prevent costly repairs later on down the line. New houses aren't always free of flaws!

Always get the home inspected, even if the home is new construction get the home inspected. Get it inspected before the drywall gets installed. Get it inspected before you close and then get it inspected 11 months into your first year of living there.

I recently inspected a $700k new construction. I was very disappointed with the quality that was being put out for that price. Definitely found quite a few things. Have another new construction inspection tomorrow as well.

I second what jtroth said. Always get a home inspection! Get one before the drywall goes up so you can see what is going on behind the walls, get another one once the home is complete and yet another once at the 11 month mark and before your one year warranty is up!

We seem to find more and more with new construction. When our Client Coordinator hears clients say they are not sure they need an inspection because it is a new house, she definitely has some stories to tell.
