The logo is not bad, but when I downloaded it, it seemed a little pixelated. Are the edges of the letters smooth in your original or jagged, like in the download? If they are jagged, I would try to get a higher resolution image. What software did you use to create it?

I did it on Microsoft word in 5 mins. How would I get a higher resolution. The words are jagged in the original.

Ideally, something vector based like Adobe Illustrator, because then the image can be resized and not lose any resolution. An image editing program would be next, like Photoshop or Gimp. I use Gimp because it's free. Unfortunately, they are not super intuitive to learn. What font did you use for the lettering?

There are plenty of low cost logo design websites. Spend $50 your image is worth a lot more than that.

Here's my 2 cents. There is no substitute for professional creators when it comes to your logo and there's a lot that goes into it. Typically that is in the form of years of creativity, collaboration, inspiration, and professional grade illustration software mastery.

Don't short change your brand. It's your brand and you aren't going to want to change it often to maintain brand recognition as you grow your business. In my opinion, it is imperative that you leave it to a professional like Nathan Ehman and his team that does it for a living. They're super creative. Trust me, I've done it a hundred times and look back at it later and want to change it. If it's professionally done, you'll be way happier with it and less likely wanting a change. I happened to get mine from InterNACHI and am very pleased with it, but the logos Nathan is putting out are equally superb. So, if I were you, I would buy some business cards from Nathan and let them design a logo for you for free. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

some formats are better for digital use, other best for printing, others better for embroidery...

I would lose the italic, get a meatier font and get the "J's" under control. They are a little too big and they compete with "home inspection" and you tag line. No offense but it looks like five minutes with Word.

All the advice about getting a professional to look at is spot on. Spend a little coin, you won't regret it.

William,

Big Stone Gap is a little west of me (beautiful area), nice people. I live in the New River Valley 15 minutes from Virginia Tech.
