I ask customers after an inspection if they are satisfied, then add them to a recommended list that buyers always ask me for. I will never refer, and will also tell about 2000 of my closest associates, about the over reaching inspections such as I had 2 of this week. I will now also warn buyers prior to the inspection(if they chose someone on the never call list), about inspectors telling the buyers to renegotiate the contract. It must be something they are teaching in inspector school now as I have spoken to agents in other states and the same thing is happening. Please, lovely home inspectors, NEVER tell a buyer to renegotiate with a seller for repairs. The deal is made, with a lot of blood, sweat, tears, time and money, and an agreement exists that already allows for property condition. The purpose of the home inspection is to find any hidden issues, and if that occurs, please let us do our job not make it impossible by telling my buyer to kill their own deal. None of us will ever thank or refer any home inspector that does this. Or tell the buyer without knowledge about insurance policies what they will have to have. I have recently listened to hours of inaccurate statements made by a home inspector to my buyers that had nothing to do with condition of the house. We are not enemies, but should be working together and staying in our own lanes to get the job done. Thank you.
