Need Your Suggestion For NAHI 2015 Conference Location

NAHI staff will soon be planning our 2015 Educational Conference and Trade Show.
This year’s conference is in Pittsburgh in November.

Where should next year’s conference be and when?

You have a huge following in central Ohio, I think a Cincinnati conference would work well (I wouldn't do Columbus because of difficulty for flying there).

Phoenix and Nashville are both great too.

Definitely in the "off season", but make sure to be at least two weekend away from ASHI Inspection World, Power User Conference, and Southeastern conference. Otherwise you lose some to the other conferences if they have to choose between the two!

Something to think about. Anybody else got any suggestions as to location and time. Now is the time.

You could send an invite out to the membership to come and comment on this thread with their suggestions of locations! Their input matters!

Pittsburgh in Nov does not sound very enticing. You would have a very hard time getting me to go to PA any time of the year, actually.

Dallas is an Easy In / Easy Out location if you gotta fly. AND you got 2,500 to 4,000 inspectors in the state alone.

Yea, throw Dallasites a bone... about the only nat'l conference ever in Texas is Mike Crow's, and we can't go to that!

I heard FL has more home inspectors than any state (14,000+). Nachi has over 1,000 members and ASHI a few hundred I guess so that leaves a lot of non-denominational inspectors to entice

NAHI 2016 convention is now held spring break in Daytona, Florida. You won't want to miss this eye popping, jaw dropping, convention (it's sure to turn a couple of heads and leave some lasting memories, an educational experience that you'll never forget).

One of the things I've noticed over 25 years of attending seminars from all 3 major associations is that the biggest turn-outs seem to be at locations that:

1) Have easy AND relatively inexpensive In/Out flights from almost everywhere (Dallas, Las Vegas, San Diego, Florida, Chicago, etc).

2) If the seminar is in the winter, WHO wants to fly into nasty / cold weather (possible cancelled flights, etc).

3) Fairly cheap / inexpensive rooms.

4) Decent speakers.

5) Have a large number of inspectors close by .... In case you don't get a pull from the far away guys.

Because they've been around so long, ASHI seminars pull a large numbers ..... BUT the last few years I've seen better speakers for less $$$$$ at NAHI, iNACHI and state groups ............ Like TPREIA's seminars at the Simpson Strong Tie Training Facility in McKinney Texas (Dallas burb)

Personally, I would like to see more speakers from outside the HI industry who can provide content on new building practices and materials. We need to see manufacturers reps presenting. I would like to see reps from Dryvit or Sto, Carrier, American Standard/Moen, CertainTeed or other similar groups. Also, where the hell is FLIR or FLUKE or Delmhorst at these conventions? We inspect and use their products every day and they are never present to promote their products or assist the inspector.

All we seem to get are the same presenters selling a new twist - there hasn't been one new thing at any convention in years. I can get all the CE's I need online for free or for $69; I'm not interested in the same old CE courses talking about ice dams or ladder safety. Also, please, no more of the same, outdated, convoluted, irrelevant, EIFS/Stucco course that is so antiquated it should be fossilized.

Please give us something other than ISN, HIP, HomeGauge, ProLab, InspectorLab and home warranties; nothing against them but we pretty much know about them - I need new content and new presenters if you want me to come to your convention. Think of it this way - if I can pick up the phone and order it, you need to explain it for free - why the hell would I spend time and money to come see it when there is nothing else for me to learn?
