So Nathan, I don't use the program but based on what I've read, it's just a non compliance issue with your products. What does Kevin need to do?

For starters he should have asked that question a long time ago (and listened), but from where HON is at now, I don't know.
I think first and foremost they need to disassociate themselves from OneSource. Both Nick Gromicko and I turned them down for a reason.
Second, he needs to focus the product. Right now it's meaningless to everyone, and they're losing ground. They had momentum, but right now they probably have a few hundred inspectors on board that they can capitalize on and springboard to huge success...if they lose that they're dead in the water.
I think the critical mistake here at this moment is to have a product that forces users into non-compliance with another contract nearly all of them use. He's whining now about misinformation and lies on the internet, but we have this from multiple sources including in writing from Kevin himself.
The problem for HON is that when you take that away, where's the revenue coming from? You can't make money off service calls that aren't happening, maybe you make a commission here and there on special offers but consumers get a little tired of those offers, charging inspectors will force them to look at the real value and return on investment rather than just buying into a system because it's associated with someone we all like (Kevin), so it's a tough spot. There's more problem statements than solutions, but I can tell you this:
The solutions will show themselves when the product is focused and the opportunity is ripe because of volume.
Both are in serious jeopardy in my opinion.

As I think about this more, I think the first focus for HON should be who their Daddy is. Right now, it's One Source and anyone who will tell them they're special today.
I put this in those terms to make the point, because there's a huge opportunity to be a very profitable company if HON is to choose a focused target, and if I owned the company today I know exactly what I would do. I won't give the business plan here, I did that once for Kevin only for it to be bastardized.
I may just take my new service for a spin in that arena

I ordered some of HON's REALTOR memberships back in September through their website. I asked for a price and Kevin called me back directly to discuss. He asked me what I thought of HON and what clients were saying. He said there were several changes coming in the new year including charging home inspectors to use their service.
He asked me flat out what I thought about HON contacting my clients to discuss their program. We talked about his association with ISG in regards to their relationship (I asked). He said that the PUC was coming up and HON wasn't invited. He said he would give me the REALTOR memberships for free if I would get feedback and info from the PUC and report back to him about what people were saying.
Seemed a little fishy and I wasn't interested in the changes that he stated were coming. He made it sound like the phone calls to clients would not be sales calls but rather calls to inform them about their free membership they were given. It didn't make sense to me that OneSource people would be calling or that anyone would be for that matter if they weren't selling something.
I got Kevin's email as well. He told me directly a different story. Nathan's posts appear accurate to me.
I'm out of HON.

I don't even remember mentioning anything about HON at the conference, but you weren't the only one reporting back to him. You were however the only smart enough to get paid for it and for that...I salute you!

not sure what all is going on but I just received an email from HON. seems like if you have been with them from the beginning nothing has changed. this "calls" thing seems like it is just with new users or if you opt in.
here is a section from the email: "First let me say that no changes have been or will be made to any existing inspector's HON accounts unless specifically requested by the inspector. All existing inspector users remain free and unchanged. No calls have been made or will be made to any clients. All changes to an inspector's accounts must be authorized by the inspector. "

Maybe Kevin changed his mind from what he has stated to inspectors directly and in email form prior that completely contradicts the statements he made today in his email responding to this thread.
Either way, the program as it is today still promotes OneSource and everything that comes with it. Can't promote another alarm system and get the benefit of our alarm leads program!

Even the HON PRO...why would you use that when you have this free forum, with the answers coming from/reviewed by/endorsed by the guy that covers your E & O deductible?
I've spoken to dozens of inspectors and the consensus is that no one really analyzed the value proposition, they just signed up because it was Kevin- and they're dropping it because of the shenanigans.
You should read some of the responses to emails I'm being forwarded from Kevin. He still doesn't get it- his product violates our terms and conditions. That simple, but instead of actually fix the problem that will take his business to total failure or heed my advice (or the advice of all you guys), he's reverted to petulant ramblings blaming me.
Kevin- the problem is you. Get rid of OneSource, they're a noose around your neck. Focus your product instead of trying to be everything to everyone. You still have a chance here, though it is slipping away.
