At today's roof inspection I came acrosss a new installation (about 3/4 months) and I saw something that I am not familiar with. The front porch roof has this one time and the upper roof has 2 on each side. There is a distinct piece of material that puts a small gap between the shingles. I am guessing this helps with ventilation. Please look at the photograph and let me know what you think is going on.
