HomeGauge promoted OneSource as a option for inspectors in the June 2014 News Alert. I recognized how this would be non-compliant with programs I use through ISG and did not opt in on this. Below is how OneSource was introduced in the June HG News Alert.

Your customers have enough on their mind with their new home purchase. Reward them with convenience by recommending OneSource Solutions Home Connections. OneSource has experienced, well-trained consultants that take the stress out of moving to a new home. In just one phone call, OneSource will coordinate the majority of new home service connections — electric, phone, Internet, cable, satellite, alarm system, gas and more. All you need to do is click the button at the home inspection report to send the buyer's info. As an extra incentive, OneSource will compensate you for your leads and HomeGauge makes it easy! See the tour and link below for more information on OneSource.

So, since I had a banner made with HON on it, do you have any recommendations for covering up that part of the banner? I just received my banner last week.

I don't think you need to, and I think plenty are responding to this beyond what was intended, mostly due to Kevin's email!

Let me set some things straight and then give you my best advice:

1. I don't dislike the core product HON or think it's a bad idea. I'm jealous I didn't come up with it! There's just a few terrible things about the execution that need to be fixed...and perhaps they will be, we'll see.

2. The only issue I have personally is that HON is promoting an alarm company (disguised as a "utility concierge"). This creates a conflict for those clients of ours on the Alarm Leads Program, which certainly isn't all of our clients but it is many- and it devalues the leads we give enormous amounts of cash and products to our home inspectors and their clients for.

3. The real issue I take with Kevin outside of the contractual issue is the fact that he's getting paid alarm commissions, not reporting them to you guys, and charging you for the priveledge to give him your client data for a product that hasn't shown any marketing value to date. I find that to be dishonest, even if you're giving him the leads "for free" and he's not making you pay him to do so.

So here's what I would do. Keep the logo, stop submitting to HON. If a client asks for it, then submit that client manually after they move in. I have no issue with it if handled that way, and it keeps you from having to change everything.

If you want to change though, and you absolutely want that logo gone, I'll send you a new banner at MY expense.

Oops, didn't look back in the thread far enough. I don't think I have ever received a single email from HON. It's odd.

It's funny- Nick Gromicko doesn't like the product, but his staff still picks this one letter to post a link to on their Facebook page. Hilarious! Great responses too.

Nathan you and I emailed back and forth on this being a problem with TREC and possibly some issues with respa as one source was pitching it. Another issue I have seen with them is their rules and employees change weekly.
