Welcome to the Home Inspection and Real Estate Forum for Home Inspectors and Real Estate Professionals!

A couple things to know:

1. We have not officially launched at this point. If you're here before July 1st, you're one of the lucky few!
2. Posts pay! We're launching RWS/Inspector Services Group Rewards in August, and every post will earn you points...points you can use like cash toward printed materials, websites, and hundreds of other products and services for Real Estate Agents and Home Inspectors!
3. Your username and password will match up with your RecallChek.com/90DayWarranty.com/InspectorLab.com/SewerGard.com credentials when we officially launch. You will get an email.
4. You will see a number of changes and improvements between now and our launch!

Feel free to leave your comments and suggestions here, and don't be offended if I delete a post. I may do so to protect the integrity of what will be the biggest message board in Real Estate and Home Inspection History!

To your success!

This should be fun, interesting and educational. Being in both the Real Estate and inspection industries, I've witnessed how most times it has been an "Us vs. Them" relationship AND most show up with that attitude already embedded in their approach. A real opportunity to help each other through this forum.

Thanks Nathan!

I've been playing with the idea of taking the real estate courses and getting my license to sell in Ontario. I've been doing home inspections now for 5 years but recently an agent has been asking me to join the team. She seems to think that my HI skill set and personality would do very well in selling property. I'd like to hear from anyone that has any experience in transitioning from the home inspection industry to selling real estate.

I have been Realtor off and on for 24 years, full time Home Inspector for 27 years and Appraiser for about 20 years. I find that having been in these professions is very helpful. Hopefully there can be some good dialogue found here on this form from across the Entire country.

Most of of the full time professionals Inspector and Realtors alike find that we are all part of the BIG picture and on the same team with similar goals.

I can't think of a single forum anywhere that this statement has been made so eloquently. Thank you Keven.

Well Howdy All,

Interesting question because, like always, the devil is in the details. How's the market in your area? SPECIFICALLY, how many homes per month sell, how many agents in the local area, what is the average sales price? Also, since someone invited to be a part of their team, EXACTLY what does that look like? What are they offering as a split, benefits, etc. AND what are their expectations of you on time, talent and treasure?

All of that being asked, at the highest level, the Real Estate business is amazing, with the right training and coaching. As part of my transition to Keller Williams and becoming one of their coaches, I have dropped into a new market (Austin, TX), where I had no business and no existing relationships. Following the models, training, and utilizing the one-on-one coaching Keller Williams offers, I've been pretty successful. (June 1 stats, #5 individual agent in our 350+ person office).

The hours and the clients can be tough, the details overwhelming, and the rewards, both financial and personal, amazing.

My recommendation for investigating the business, get your hands on The Millionaire Real Estate Agent (MREA) and read it cover to cover. If you've got the diligence and commitment to get through 1 book, you've got a good start. Plus it will lay out the entire business, from beginning to 7th level.

I will add one bonus of this change . . . for me . . . . I never again have to flush a strangers toilet or crawl under their house. GOOD LUCK!

I put my realestate license with Keller Williams Realty in Fort Mill, South Carolina about a year ago as I was looking to stop working for my wife's home inspection company and yes Russ, go back to the perks of NOT handling people's toilets and faucets.

I just finished the KW IGNITE Program so the next time my wife's not looking I might sell my BIG truck and buy a luxury car.

Russ: Thanks for the incite. I know I have a lot of training to do in order to be a good REA. I'll get my hands on the book and read up on the profession before I commit. I'll post here every once in awhile to let you know how things are going. In the mean time I'll be flushing those toilets and crawling around crawl spaces for a bit longer.

Russ, Congrats on your transition. Sounds like a lot of hard work and dedication. Kudos! OK Nathan, you perked my interest with this forum.... And now looking at your BAM dashboard a lil closer. Taking the next step from a 2 man to a three man operation and might need some marketing resources. Chat soon.

I went from running my husbands home inspection company and doing all the marketing for it to real estate agent. The time spent on the home inspection side has helped me both with buyers and with listings. The marketing training has helped as well.
